Welcome to our exciting workshop designed to introduce children to the fundamentals of circuits with lights and buzzers and an engineering design challenge to build a Dance Pad

Step-On Dance Pad

Put engineering skills into action with our new Step-On Dance Pad workshop! Children will explore the world of electricity by designing and creating a dance-pad switch.

During this hands-on workshop, children will investigate circuits, discover how electricity flows through a complete pathway, and explore the difference between series and parallel circuits. They will also test conductors and insulators before applying their learning to design a working dance-pad switch using everyday materials.

This CRAFT workshop introduces children to electrical energy, circuits and engineering design through this movement-based challenge.

By participating in this workshop, children will:

  • Learn about electricity, circuits and electrical energy.
  • Develop an understanding of series and parallel circuits.
  • Investigate conductors and insulators through hands-on testing.
  • Understand how switches control the flow of electricity.
  • Build and test circuits that create light and sound.
  • Apply the Engineering Design Process to solve a real-world challenge.
  • Develop creativity, critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Enhance collaboration and communication through teamwork.
  • Foster an interest in electronics, engineering and STEM learning.

The workshop offers pupils an opportunity to discover how electricity can be controlled and used in different ways, while encouraging curiosity, creativity and innovation through hands-on STEM learning.
