2026 July Summer Camps
Summer Camps 2026 at the CRAFT Maker Space
BOOKING LINK HERE (via Eventbrite)
It's that time of the year again when here in CRAFT we have great fun picking out what exciting and quirky summer camps we'll do. We had lots of ideas, but have finally settled on the five below where you'll see some new workshops and some classics. They are based on exploration, play and collaborative engineering design projects, placing an emphasis on the concept that we are all makers, designers, engineers, scientists, mathematicians, inventors, thinkers, artists and crafters (to mention but a few!).
We hope you will find something here that interests your young engineer!
16 & 17 July for 9 to 10 year olds: Brick & Byte: Digital Creators with Corrib Code Club
LEGO yay! At Brick & Byte, young makers become digital creators with the team from Corrib Code Club. Children will explore the world of robotics and coding through fun, doing guided projects using LEGO Spike kits and MakeCode Arcade. Whether they’re building a robot or designing a game, they’ll be learning real tech skills in a hands-on, interactive environment.
20 and 21 July for 10 to 12 year olds: Stop Motion Animation with Mike Byrne
Summer wouldn't be summer in CRAFT without the exceptionally talented Mike Byrne, graduate of LSAD, to learn and develop the skills of design, animation and sound, working with clay and 3d printed artifacts. If you've got an idea already of what animation you'd like to make, bring it along!
23 & 24 July for 7 to 9 year olds: STEM Sports
Sports fever will be hitting Limerick as the city hosts the Sports For All events in August. So get ready to design, build and play in this summer camp! We'll take a closer look at the sports we know - recreating them, measuring them - and we'll try inventing new games and challenges of our own. This camp is all about bringing your ideas to life and testing them out with others whether you play lots of sports or none at all.
27 & 28 July for 6 to 8 year olds: STEM Fun
STEM Fun is all about building, testing, and seeing what happens! From designing and making to trying out big ideas, this camp gives kids the chance to get stuck in with creative engineering challenges and hands-on summer fun.
30 & 31 July for 11 to 13 year olds: STEM Robotics
Robotics - with a CRAFT twist of course! Using platforms like LEGO Spike, MakeCode, perhaps some VR, and of course some maker centered creative builds, the children will design, build and programme their own creations while developing confidence in problem-solving and computational thinking, bringing ideas to life through technology.
What do you think? Find something you like?
The camps run from 9.30 to 2.00 each day, and children will need a snack, lunch and drink, and lots of curiosity and imagination!
