A Busy and Exciting Start to the Year at CRAFT
The first quarter of the year has been an exceptionally busy and productive time at CRAFT, with a wide range of activities taking place both on campus and across the region. Alongside our regular weekly CRAFT programmes, we celebrated Engineers Week, delivered Minecraft sessions with 4th year ICT & Maths specialism students, and supported off-site Easter camps in schools across Clare and Limerick.
CRAFT has also been active in sharing research nationally and internationally, with Maeve and Eleanor presenting at two conferences: the CESI Conference in Limerick and the New Perspectives in Science Education conference in Florence and online.
On 25 April, CRAFT, in collaboration with Engineers Ireland, will host Tools for Teachers to Implement Engineering in the Classroom, a practical professional development event for teachers.
Looking ahead, we are preparing for events as part of the Limerick Lifelong Learning Festival, Climate Action Week, and Cruinniú na nÓg in Clare. May will see three days on the UL campus supporting ESB Science Blast, followed by a HEA-funded ENGAGE with IT teenage camp in June. Planning is also underway for July for summer camp activities, robotics programmes, LEGO-based learning, and exciting new collaborations with STEM Ed, TED, and international partners.
Booking for these will be available in early May.
To top it all off, CRAFT has been shortlisted for a 2026 Education Award, with winners to be announced this week - fingers crossed!
