We love Space Week at the CRAFT Maker Space and this year it runs from Saturday 4 October to Friday 10 October.
I’m invisible, but I make the planets go round. What am I? - Gravity!
Space Week Workshops
In Space Week 2026, the theme is Rockets, and we have workshops for all classes:
Junior & Senior Infants – Helmet Heroes: Exploring Space Gear and Senses
Blast off on a creative space adventure as children design and build their own astronaut helmets. Through hands-on making and imaginative play, they will explore the role of space equipment while developing creativity, fine motor skills, and confidence. Perfect for young explorers eager to journey among the stars!
1st & 2nd Class – Two-Stage Balloon Rocket Workshop
Become a rocket engineer and discover how rockets travel through space and manage energy usage. Children will build, test, and improve a two-stage balloon rocket while exploring forces, motion, and engineering design through hands-on investigations.
3rd & 4th Class – Foam Rocket Workshop
Step into the role of an aerospace engineer by designing, building, and launching your own foam rocket. Pupils will investigate forces, flight, and stability while testing different launch angles and using the engineering design process to improve rocket performance.
5th & 6th Class – Heavy Lifting Workshop
Can your rocket lift a payload into space? In this exciting engineering challenge, pupils will design and test balloon-powered rocket systems while investigating mass, gravity, and forces. Through teamwork and experimentation, they will discover the science behind launching rocket and carrying cargo beyond Earth.
📅 Dates: Daily 4 Oct through to 8 October 🕘 Times 9:30am & 11:15am
